Buccal/Sublingual Route

 

Main applications :

The buccal route to deliver systemic active ingredients such as Trinitrin (Treatment of Angor crisis) is traditionally used for local treatment such as sore throats and other buccal infections. More recently, pharmaceutical research is considering the buccal route to deliver systemic active principles such as insulin.

The
sublingual route is traditionnally used for the systemic administration of certain active ingredients such as Trinitrin (Treatment of Angor crisis) . More recently, the Pharmaceutical Industry uses the sublingual route for the delivery of allergens for desensitization cures. This route is being considered for the systemic administration of derivatives products of cannabis (pain therapy).
